Background: Ser Roland Hite is the eldest son of Ser Ulbert Hite, the captain of the guard at House Tullison's strong hold Mountain's Reach.
He is still a young man but already has a fine reputation after victories at a pair of small local tourneys, although this jars with rumours of inadequate performance when patrolling House Tullison's rugged holdings.
An enthusiastic young man, his lack of exposure to the darker side of Westeros has given him a slightly idealistic outlook on life.
Description: Born of a “Salty” Dornish mother and Ser Humphrey Hite, Roland has a dark head of long hair that comes from his mother’s side which he wears long, in the Dornish style. To educated or well travelled observors it is clear that the blood of the Rhoyne flows strongly in him. Roland has been known to return from more than one meandering patrol with his hair having grown past his shoulders. He normally sports a short, neat beard or stubble and has light olive skin. His brown eyes have a trusting look, but are often hidden by a squint when he focuses on a distant object or person. Due to his darker complexion he has found the recent winter hard going in the Tullison mountains.
Despite his solid education and literacy, Roland has a habit of dropping mountain references in to his speech, describing dependable soldiers as “solid as mountain rock” and planning to fall on foes “like an avalanche”. Short-tempered courtiers and those used to more florid speech may find this sets them on edge.
Equipment: He has taken as his personal charge a white lightning bolt on the Tullison’s red mountain against a blue background, and dresses in a dark blue tunic.
