Background Event: Kylpævr (Kyl) Farwynd was born in 282 AC, into status as the first son of Urrigon Farwynd, Lord of Loney Light. Like all Ironmen, he was raised to revere 'the old way.' In 289, at the age of seven, Kylpævr traveled with his father to Pyke when Balon Greyjoy called his banners in “Greyjoy's Rebellion'. During the skirmishes leading up to the siege of Pyke, Kylpævr witnessed his father's death at the hand of one of Jamys Kytley's sworn swords. Counter-attacking with all of fury that a seven year old can muster, Kylpævr's was quickly captured, spanked vigorously and presented to Jamys as a hostage for future ransom. Jamys met his ignominious end not long afterwards, and Kylpævr was sent to Lord Ambrose Kytley for ransom.
Gylbert Farywynd, Kylpævr's uncle and the new Lord of Lonely Light, had no desire to see the 'rightful heir' return. The emissaries sent to Hammerstone with instructions to drown young Kyl and return his corpse in a barrel. Lord Ambrose quickly got wind of this nefarious plan, and quickly terminated negotiations, as he had no desire to start his reign with scandal.
Ambrose hoped that Kylpævr would quickly blend in with the other cupbearers and squires in the castle, and would fade into obscurity. And for a time, it looked as if this would be true. However, Gylbert Farwynd started sending plotters, kidnappers, assassins and other ne’er do well's to get rid of young Kylpævr.
Young Kylpævr, known as Kyl to his friends, was oblivious to his uncle's machinations, and he meandered about the squires trade; a friendly if sometimes lonely boy. More importantly, he spend a lot of time learning the finer arts of warfare by hanging around Morys of Oldmill, Captain Crakepool, Ser Boydan Writhars, and the other warriors of the group. At the age of 13, Kylpævr realized he had enemies in the world when he heard some of the Smithton Watch discussing how some bandits in the bog were hiding the latest band of Gylbert's hirelings, waiting to do in the 'young squid'. Captain Crakepool and Lord Ambrose explained the way of things to Kyl, and realizing that he was a burden to the Kytley's, suddenly he felt like he had no home.
This realization focused Kylpævr, Drawing upon his time with the warriors of House Kytley, his squire's training, and the nearly forgotten 'old ways' of the iron men, Kylpævr got serious about a knight's trade and his training took on new urgency. This 16th year saw Kyl knighted and sworn to House Kytley. Kylpævr also started demonstrating some of the traits of a successful ship's captain. This has lead to Kylpævr becoming known around Hammerstone as somebody who can shoulder responsibility and 'get things done.' However, as 'Ironborn' Kyl was still seen as an outsider, and does not appear to enjoy Lord Ambrose's trust to the same degree as his other sworn swords.
Description: Kylpævr, his tall for his age, and his shoulders are starting to broaden, suggesting that he could be rather muscular. He keeps is face clean shaven, and regularly shaves the sides and backof his head, leaving a wave of light blonde hair. He generally carries his longsword and left-handed dagger. When fighting, he carries a large shield and dons scale.
