From the modified combat rules: Knockdown - Lesser Attack Does this mean that Knockdown counts as an attack, even though it doesn't do any damage? So, unless I spend a DP, I can never knock an opponent over and follow up with an attack in the same turn? Doesn't that make it rather pointless unless you're part of a fighting team?

I suspect it was a copy/paste error, not an intended rule change. In general I'm ok with it being an attack, but it does greatly change the role of knockdown.

I apologize lol! I meant it only to be a lesser action. I had typoed . Meant Action not attack on both Cautious Attack and Knockdown

It sort of does balance it. On the other hand Damon is right that it becomes almost useless in 1v1 fights, and it is a staple there (consider the epic fight between Oberyn Martell and Gregor Clegane in the show). I say almost because you could still use it to make a heavily armored opponent waste time standing... but it does not seem to be all that useful, tactically speaking.
I have an unrelated combat rules question that I discovered while reading up for my Joust rules thread (forthcoming!):
According to pg. 58, It takes a lesser action to control a war trained beast in combat, or a greater action for a mount not trained for war. It is Automatic difficulty (0), so it is not hard to pass. The issue is that it is a lesser action. This would make mounted charges impossible without using fatigue/DP, which seems neither logical nor the intent. Perhaps this should be a free action for war-trained mounts and lesser otherwise? Perhaps with a difficulty increase to compensate? Perhaps increase to lesser/greater if the mount is wounded until it is calmed again?

I believe there's GR ruling out on that one, that controlling the mount is considered part of the charge action.

Well I'm still confused. Does cautious attack include the attack or that must be separate action. Ex. Lesser action: cautious attack -1d to attack, +3 to CD Lesser action: standard attack
Or
Lesser action: cautious attack 4d6(-1d), + 3 to CD
