The basic concept of how the game will go is we will open a day in game time for a set period of time, at this point I'm expecting going to leave a day open for two weeks of real time so as to give everyone time to post and do what they want during that day. After two weeks, the day will close and no more can be done in it and I will start the next day of in game time. If this doesn't seem to be long enough or is proving to be too long for everyone's play style then we can always change it. Also if we seem to wrap up a day sooner than what we usually do and people want to close it to move to the next day we can do a poll whether or not to close the day early.
As of right now each day will consist of 12 slots. Each slot consists of two hours of in game time. This is up for change later if the system doesn't appear to be working out. The slots are as follows:
4:00 AM to 6:00 AM = Early Morning
6:00 AM to 8:00 AM = Mid Morning
8:00 AM to 10:00 AM = Late Morning
10:00 AM to 12:00 PM = Early Afternoon
12:00 PM to 2:00 PM = Mid Afternoon
2:00 PM to 4:00 PM = Late Afternoon
4:00 PM to 6:00 PM = Early Evening
6:00 PM to 8:00 PM = Mid Evening
8:00 PM to 10:00 PM = Late Evening
10:00 PM to 12:00 AM = Early Night
12:00 AM to 2:00 AM = Mid Night
2:00 AM to 4:00 AM = Late Night
Since much of the game and interaction between players is player driven, the players will have the ability to create their own threads for their characters and other players characters to participate in. When creating a thread please name the thread using the following format:
[Time or Time Slot]Name of Thread
If a character is making a thread to break fast with two or three other characters, they might discuss via PM or OoC and agree on a time then one of them will create a thread called:
[Day 1:Mid Morning] Breakfast with the Marstens (Open)
They leave (Open) at the end to denote that other players not invited to the thread are welcome to join in, if it makes relative sense for them to happen upon the location at the same time as this thread is taking place or be invited by someone else (such as a retainer of a noble who was invited or would be there).
Another example could be between a noble and a lowborn sell sword plotting in private late in the dead of night, one of them creates a thread and abbreviates Mid Night to MN:
[D1:MN] Words in Shadow (Private)
In the example above, (Private) is added on to the end of the thread title because the players are wanting to try and discuss between just the two of them and don't want other players randomly popping in (which is allowed and even encouraged in most other threads). If in a public place this could be over-ruled as impossible to have a private discussion, such as at a feast in the Main Hall. Unless other wise stated, you should feel free to join an (Open) thread or ask someone who is already in the thread if it's ok for you to join in.
Please note that, thread progression is not going to proceed in a streamlined chronological format. All time slots for that day in-game are open for use for as long as that day is open for play. So a players character could be invited to a dinner for Mid Evening and play out that whole thread and the thread end and then later on get invited to participate in a duel at Mid Afternoon before the dinner ever happened. Things like this are to be expected with a game being run this way but it still works well so long as everyone is capable of being able to roleplay their character without metagaming and keeping the perspective of time flow and events for their character in mind when they post.
A character can only be in one time slot each day. They can not be in two Early Morning threads on Day 1. There exceptions to this rule though, since each time slot is 2 hours. It's possible for a character to be involved in a thread and then realize fairly soon after the thread is first created that their character has no place in the thread or is summoned elsewhere, they can still leave that thread before it gets fully underway and make it to another. These exceptions should be passed by me first. To avoid this though, keep the 2 hour time slot and commitment in mind before joining a thread with your character.
Each player will have a board made specifically for their character. Something I suggest doing in order to help you keep track of which time slots your character is already in and where they are at is to create a thread under your character's board, call it Day 1 Schedule or Day 2 Schedule etc. There you can create a small table or chart listing each of the time slots in the day and next to it put the name of the thread (maybe even create a link to the actual thread) and the location next to it, like below.
Early Morning: Over the River [The Crossing]
Mid Morning: Through the Woods [The Godswood]
Late Morning: To Grandmother's House [The King's Road]
Between stories there will be down time in which the player's will have opportunity to make rolls for their houses, train to increase abilities, craft, etc. The time will vary. Afterwards, the gameplay will resume again as before, going day-by-day, when the next story starts. If there are things that take place after a story due to actions within it that need to be roleplayed then we will take care of that as well in between stories.
